Catching Up!

What does a teacher of English do when they have to work with a group of adolescents who may not have really learnt their own language, or had access to libraries and books, or even TV, for that matter? What does a group of adolescents do when they have a chance to pick up English, but it means that they set apart regular bits of time from schoolwork, homework and possibly a job they might be holding down too?

A lot of catching up.

That's what I'm doing right now, uploading an activity that was hugely successful with their students, according to the teachers at Hyderabad Access. I've been meaning to start this blog for a couple of months now, just to share what we have been doing, hoping for some feedback and contribution from the larger group of Access teachers and trainers. Maybe, as the weeks go by, we'll have a tidy resource of ideas and activities sent in by everybody.

  1. Mythili, this is an amazing start, and I am excited! It would be great to have all our activities, experiences and observations at one place. As time goes by, I look forward to seeing this blog emerging as a forum for us all, no less than other social networking sites. But this will not happen without the active participation of the Access team members. I hope that all of us put in our bits regularly and make this forum buzzing with activity and resources.

Thank you for the lead, Mythili.
